Total Testosterone

Total testosterone measures the overall amount of testosterone circulating in the blood. This includes testosterone attached to proteins and testosterone that is unbound.

Testosterone contributes to reproductive function, sexual health, muscle and bone health, energy, and overall hormone balance. Measuring total testosterone provides a useful baseline, but additional testing may sometimes be required to understand how much testosterone is available for the body to use.

Will the collection method affect what is tested?

No. Both options measure total testosterone. The collection method changes how you collect the blood sample, not the biomarker being analyzed.

Which collection method should I choose?

Choose the method you feel most comfortable using: QuickDraw collects blood from the upper arm using the included collection device. Fingerstick collects blood from the fingertip using a traditional lancet. Both methods measure the same total testosterone biomarker.

When should I collect my sample?

Follow the instructions included with your kit. Collect your sample in the morning, preferably before 9 a.m., because testosterone levels naturally change throughout the day.

What does the test measure?

The test measures total testosterone, representing the combined amount of protein-bound and unbound testosterone circulating in the blood.

Is this test only for men?

No. Testosterone is present in both men and women. Expected levels and clinical interpretation differ based on factors such as sex, age, symptoms, medical history, and medications.

Is this a supplement?

No. This is an at-home blood sample collection and laboratory testing kit.

How will I receive my results?

Your results will be made available securely through the online results dashboard.

How long do results take?

Most results are available within 1–3 business days after the laboratory receives and processes the sample. Shipping time is not included in this estimate.

How does the Total Testosterone test work?

Choose either QuickDraw or Fingerstick when placing your order. Collect your sample at home using the supplies provided, place it in the return packaging, and send it to the laboratory using the prepaid return label. Your results will be available securely online after laboratory processing.

Does this test measure free testosterone?

No. Although total testosterone includes bound and unbound testosterone, this test does not provide a separate free testosterone result.

Can this test diagnose low testosterone?

No. A laboratory result provides useful health information but cannot diagnose a medical condition by itself. Your result should be considered alongside your symptoms, medical history, medications, collection time, and other relevant testing.
